     Outline of Hebrews: Jesus Christ
Messenger of God - angels 1 - 2
Overseer of God’s House - Moses 3 - 4
Priest of God - Melchizedek 5 - 7
Mediator of God’s New Covenant 8 – 10
Perfecter of our Faith in God 11 - 13

     Hebrews 1:1
In the past God spoke to our forefathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
     Hebrews 1:2
but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom he made the universe
     Hebrews 1:3
The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word.
After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Teachings about Jesus Christ

     Hebrews 1:1-3
Son of God
Messenger
Heir
Creator
Fully divine
Sustainer
Purifier of sin
Supreme Authority

     Hebrews 2:9-18
But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, now crowned with glory and honor because he suffered death, so that by the grace of God he might taste death for everyone. 2:9
In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exists, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. 2:10
Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. 2:11
Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death-that is, “the devil” 2:14
and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. 2:15
For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham's descendants. 2:16
For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he might make atonement for the sins of the people. 2:17
Because he himself suffered when he was tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted. 2:18

For we do not have a priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses,
But we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as you are-Yet with out sin
Let us approach the throne of grace with confidence so we may
Receive mercy and grace to help us in our time of need.

Humanity of Christ
     Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus life on earth he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to him who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his reverent submission.
     Hebrews 5:8
Although he was a son.
He learned obedience from what he suffered, and once made perfect,
He became the source of eternal salvation, for all who obey him.

Note: Our savior’s prayer life. He knows how hard it is for some to pray.
The Lord of the universe had reverent submission.
The Lord of the universe suffered.
Our salvation needs a Yes Lord attitude.

Teachings about Jesus

     Hebrews 7:24-27     8:1,2
but because Jesus lives forever, he has a permanent priesthood. 7:24
Therefore he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. 7:25
Such a high priest meets our need-One who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. 7:26
Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his own sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once for all when he offered himself. 7:27
The point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, 8:1
and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by man. 8:2

     Hebrews 10:14, 15
How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death,
so that we may serve the living God! 10:14
For this reason Christ is the mediator of a new covenant, that those who are called may receive the promised eternal inheritance. Now that he has died as a ransom to set them free from the sins committed under the first covenant. 10:15

therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 10:19. 20
and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 10:21
let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 10:22
Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 10:23
And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. 10:24
Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another and all the more as you see the Day approaching. 10:25

Teachings about Tithing

     Hebrews 6:7, 8
Land that drinks in the rain often falling on it
and that produces a crop useful to those for whom it is farmed. That land receives the blessing of God. 6:7
But land that produces thorns and thistles is worthless
and is in danger of being cursed. In the end it will be burned. 6:8
Even though we speak like this, dear friends,
we are confident of better things in your case - things that accompany salvation. 6: 9
God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them. 6:10
We want each of you to show this same diligence to the very end,
in order to make your hope sure. 6:11
We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience
inherit what has been promised. 6:12

The Rain is God’s blessing
Your crop is where you give God’s blessing
